  1. Hi Slauson Girl,

I just came across your blog regarding this story and surprised that I haven’t hear of this officer-involved shooting. I have to admit, the video of the shooting was difficult to watch. However, I can see why the shooting occurred considering what was shown on the video.

Ryan used his car as a lethal weapon when he put it into reverse as the deputy opened the back door. That maneuver could have seriously injured or killed the deputy. Also, why would he do that and put his passenger’s life in danger as well?

I would like to know what would you expect a police officer to do in this situation? I’m NOT some pro-police nut or troll, but would like to engage in serious conversation with the black community regarding police shootings. Do I believe all police shootings are justified? Of course not. However, I believe police officers have every right to defend themselves when they are faced with the threat of being injured or killed by anyone–I don’t care what color they are.
