Los Angeles, CA—Nipsey Hussle’s enduring legacy thrives as his Neighborhood Nip Foundation officially partners with the 2024 Los Angeles Marathon.
The Marathon Clothing (TMC) brand, founded by Hussle, assembles a team of 15 or more for the marathon. Funds raised will support the Neighborhood Nip Foundation, established in 2019 to uplift underprivileged youth through community initiatives.
The 39th L.A. Marathon is set for March 17, 2024.
“We’re honored to join forces with the LA Marathon, a cause close to Nip’s heart. His vision and passion for involvement were evident when he shared his desire for the brand to engage with the LA Marathon, particularly in our hometown,” reveals Sam Asghedom, Hussle’s brother, to The Hollywood Reporter. “Nip aspired to run the marathon himself, urging us all to prepare. Seeing this materialize is immensely gratifying.”
Aspiring participants can register to run in support of Hussle’s foundation at themarathon2024.com, with the foundation planning to sponsor those unable to afford marathon fees.
The site where his Marathon Clothing store stands on Slauson and Crenshaw has been closed since his death. The exterior of the diverse business complex has undergone a recent transformation, now featuring a fresh coat of white paint with the prominent inscription “The Neighborhood Nip Foundation” adorning one of the store buildings.
The late rapper, (born Ermias Asghedom) celebrated for his lyrical prowess and community activism, left a lasting impact way beyond the South Central, Los Angeles streets he was born and raised in. His tragic 2019 murder marked the loss of a talented rapper, compassionate friend, local hero and devoted father.
