Los Angeles, CA–The City of Los Angeles has passed what is being referred to as some of the strictest Covid-19 vaccination mandates in the country. On Oct. 7, The Los Angeles City Council passed an ordinance to require certain businesses to require proof of vaccination for patrons. These new ordinances took effect this week and proof of vaccination is required for access into many businesses in L.A. It is important to note that enforcement will not begin at many establishments until Nov. 29, although some businesses have already begun marketing these enforcements. Outdoor events that have between 5,000 to 9,999 attendees are also included.
A printed document, email, or text message displayed on a phone from a test provider or laboratory that shows negative results of a COVID-19 test that was conducted 72 hours before entry is also allowed. The printed document, email, or text message must include the person’s name, type of test performed, date of the test, and negative test result.
New mandates will apply to:
Food & Beverage Establishments
- Restaurants
- Bars
- Fast food establishments
- Coffee shops
- Brewery, winery and distillery tasting rooms
- Cafeterias, food courts, banquet halls, and hotel ballrooms
- Yoga, pilates, cycling, barre, and
Gyms & Fitness Venues
- Hotel gyms, boxing and
- kickboxing gyms, and fitness boot
- Any facilities used for conducting indoor group fitness classes
Entertainment & Recreation Venues
- Shopping centers, movie theaters, bowling alleys, arcades, card rooms, family entertainment centers, play areas, pool and billiard halls, and other recreational game centers
- Live performance venues including: performing arts theaters, music and concert venues, live performance venues and adult entertainment venues
- Commercial event and party venues, sports arenas, and convention centers
- Exhibition halls and museums
Personal Care Establishments
- Spas, nail salons, hair salons, barbershops, tanning salons, skin care, estheticians and cosmetology services
- Body art professionals, and piercing shops
- Massage therapy, except as medically required
Indoor City Facilities
- City Hall
- Senior centers
- Recreation centers
- Service Centers
Outdoor Event Venues
