Crenshaw District, Los Angeles–Aaron Jones is the current CEO of the Original Taco Pete, which has been a Black business staple in Los Angeles since 1989.

The business was opened by Aaron’s father and they have served over 4 million of their signature African-American styled tacos for generations.

Taco Pete is the oldest Black-owned taco spot in Los Angeles.

They are a family of original cooks, and one of the only families to maintain a recipe for 33 years and four generations.

Our business is the longest standing Black owned Taco Shop. We are family owned and have a unique style of tacos and seasoning matched by no one.

The Original Taco Pete’s staple location is 12007 S Central Ave, a historic Black L.A district nestled near Watts and Compton.

Taco Pete serves burritos, tacos, burgers as well as sandwiches.

Some of their signature items include beef, chicken, turkey and shrimp tacos. Their Chico Burrito, Nunu fries and Chatty Burger are also customer favorites.

Being part of a legacy has meant more to me now than ever before because I’m continuing something that has inspired everyone in our family. Being the youngest in my generation seeing everyone look to me as the leader is my purpose.

This has been the best learning experience for me. Every step of the way, from understanding daily operations, to cost analysis, to developing marketing strategies. There are so many opportunities to improve and become stronger.
