Leimert Park, CA–Crenshaw District native and Grammy-nominated artist Terrace Martin blessed the community of Leimert Park with a free show at Harun Coffee this weekend.
He played with his band and also shared the space with a couple of fellow saxophonists. The vibe was mellow and intimate. A soft, red, light sat on the floor bouncing off a corner and setting the ambiance.
People were standing and sitting in chairs, fixated as Terrace blew the horn of his saxophone. Those unable to get into Harun stood outside where a speaker was plugged in for the crowd who traveled to Leimert to hear Terrace play.
Earlier in the day, Terrace also performed during the groundbreaking ceremony for Destination Crenshaw.
Inglewood native D Smoke and winner of Netflix’s Rhythm + Flow came through to support Terrace Martin, who is a childhood friend. D Smoke shared a song and a message about the balance and duality in music.
Overall, it was a nice way to end the weekend and the last day of Black History Month, with the melodic tunes of Terrace Martin.
