Gardena, CA–A man in his 50’s has died today after a metal cutting machine that he was fixing turned on. His name has not yet been released because authorities were still in the process of contacting his family.
Paramedics and police responded to German Machined Products, Inc. located on 178th Street at 12:45 p.m. and found the man deceased. Business operations at the building were shut down, which may continue over the course of a few days.
According to the Daily Breeze and Gardena Lt. Christopher Cuff said.
“It appears that the employee was conducting some sort of maintenance on the machine when the machine was turned on,” Cuff said, adding that the employee was standing inside the machine when it was turned on.
The machine cuts aluminum and sheet metal, Cuff said.
Cuff said investigators talked with all employees involved, but did not comment on whether the death was ruled accidental or intentional, citing authorities were in the early stages of the investigation.”
