Los Angeles, CA–Compton rapper Kendrick Lamar, who is known to stay super low-key and out the way, has become the topic of conversation after it was revealed he is set to produce a film with the creators of South Park.
Written by Vernon Chatman, the untitled live-action comedy will be co-produced by Lamar’s pgLang media company and Stone and Parker’s Park County.
pgLang operates as a production and publishing house, as well as a record label and was founded in 2020 by Lamar and his business partner Dave Free.
“The film penned by Vernon Chatman will see the past and present come to a head when a young Black man who is interning as a slave reenactor at a living history museum discovers that his white girlfriend’s ancestors once owned his,” (Deadline).
Chatman has won several peabody awards for his work and has produced and co-created several shows including Killer Mike’s Trigger Warning, and South Park. This will be his first feature film.
Information on the film title and director has not yet been released.
