Los Angeles, CA–Trump supporters headed to Downtown Los Angeles today, after hearing the news of their counterparts storming the Capitol Building in Washington D.C. A group of Trump protesters gained entry into the building, running Congress out of congressional chambers as they counted the Electoral College Votes.
Fights broke out between Trump supporters and counter-protesters resulting in several injuries and arrest in DTLA.
LAPD tweeted the following messages just before 5:00 p.m:
“At approx 1:00pm numerous pro-trump & anti-trump protesters gathered at Downtown LA City Hall. Some of the pro-trump protesters attempted to take the intersection of 1st & Spring Street and they were met by anti-trump protesters, resulting in a physical confrontation.”
A few persons were taken into custody. No property was destroyed nor were any officers injured. Police remained at the scene in DTLA to keep the peace. The LAPD’s Metropolitan Division was at the scene but did not engage in any crowd management or crowd control.
