Compton, CA–Compton native and Equestrian Randy Savvy is back with a new single! Randy is the founder of The Compton Cowboys, as well as the Executive Director of the Compton Junior Equestrians.
He is keeping himself and the youth of Compton busy through learning to ride–and compete–with horses.
On any given day, you can find Randy at the horse ranch in Richland Farms, a small rural area in Compton. When he is not riding horses or working with the youth, Randy is locked in, meshing his Cowboy lifestyle within the genre of Hip-Hop.
In December of last year, Randy dropped his single titled “COLORBLIND (Dr. Dre Mix),” that was produced by the Hip-Hop heavyweight Dr. Dre.

In his music video for “Sounds Like California,” within the first few seconds you are drawn into Randy’s Richland Farms community. An aerial shot shows people on horses at a community celebration, with men holding flags from Mexico and California. Close-up shots give you a glimpse of the people who are the backbone of Richland Farms.
A few months ago, I also had the opportunity to interview Randy about his musical journey, as well as the history of the Compton Cowboys for my podcast Slauson Girl Speaks.
You can listen to that episode here. There is also a video version on Youtube.
