Los Angeles, CA–Earlier this week, I had the chance to capture Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass as she visited Nipsey Hussle’s Marathon Burger on Melrose Avenue for the first time. The establishment is run by his brother, Samiel Asghedom—also known as Blacc Sam—and his business partner, Casey Parker.

Casey brings a legacy of his own. His dad owned Larry Parker’s diner, once a popular late-night destination in L.A. Visitors to The Marathon Burger will experience elements reminiscent of Larry Parker’s, such as classic speakers and old-school melodies that fill the space with an unmistakable vibe.

Mayor Bass’s visit carries deep significance. It follows troubling reports of Black men being harassed and handcuffed by police while simply trying to support the establishment on Melrose. Her presence not only affirms the importance of protecting Black spaces but also highlights the need for elected officials to recognize and support Black-owned businesses in Los Angeles.

The Marathon Burger is located at 7507 Melrose Avenue, Los Angeles, CA 90046, in the Fairfax District. This location is a vibrant area known for its fashion, food, and culture, making it a fitting spot for an establishment that celebrates Nipsey Hussle’s legacy.

Marathon Burger is open daily from 11:00 AM to 10:00 PM for dine-in and delivery/pickup. After 10:00 PM, they offer delivery only from 10:00 PM to 3:00 AM.
