Venice, CA–The body of former WWE wrestler Shad Gaspard has been found following a tragic incident where Gaspard and his son were caught in a rip current at Venice Beach. He was 39.
Gaspard’s 10-year-old son Aryeh was rescued by lifeguards but Gaspard is said to have been been pushed under the waves after pushing his son towards lifeguards and telling them to “save my son.”
Gaspard’s body remained missing for three days until it washed up on shore and was discovered by someone passing by. The news comes as Los Angeles is beginning to loosen their stay at home orders for L.A County residents after coronavirus concerns led officials to shutdown the city.
With Memorial Day approaching this weekend, as well as an increase in temperatures, officials are warning people who are planning to hit the beach to be mindful and watch for rip currents and large waves.
Gaspard started his professional wrestling career in 2002 and was a member of World Wrestling Entertainment until 2010. Gaspard is most noted for being a member of the WWE tag team Cryme Tyme alongside JTG.
He then went on to pursue an acting career.
Gaspard is also noted as being a former bodyguard for celebrities including P. Diddy, Mike Tyson and Brittany Spears. His wife Siliana shared this message to Gaspard’s Instagram account yesterday after his body was recovered on Venice beach.

“Aryeh, myself and the Gaspard and Chittick families would like to take this time to thank everyone for their prayers and support, as we mourn the terrible loss of our beloved Shad. Shad was our whole world and we were his. There are not enough words to describe what he means to all of us. He was our heart, our soul, our protector, our warrior. He was a bright force of nature, who brought joy to many through his joyous and gracious nature.
The outpouring of love from Shad’s friends, colleagues and fans has meant more to us than you can even imagine. We’d like to once again thank the lifeguards, coast guard, divers, fire and police departments for their efforts.
Shad was and will always be our real life super hero.
I love you more, my love ❤️
Proudly,
Siliana Gaspard
