Los Angeles, CA–Cheryl Dorsey is a Black woman we need to be listening to when it comes to policing in America. She spent 20 years with the LAPD, joining the force in 1980 to ensure job security as a single mother.
In 2020, as a retired LAPD Sergeant, Dorsey uses her insight to shed light on how policy and policing works in America. In this video she discusses the recent grand jury decisions in the Breonna Taylor case and the failure to indict officers for killing Taylor.
Dorsey is a native of Los Angeles, specifically South Central before white flight. Talk about unique perspectives. She is a familiar face wherever politics and policing are being discussed.
