South Central, Los Angeles–On Feb. 7 Los Angeles City Councilman Curren D. Price, Jr. and the Department of Recreation and Parks unveiled South Park’s new 50-yard synthetic football field along with two baseball fields, and field lighting for nighttime play.
“The park improvements are part of an ongoing multi-million investment to re-image one of South Los Angeles’ oldest and most precious parks. In celebration of the grand unveil, Oakley, the Chargers Impact Fund and Find Your Grind Foundation will be joining to share new partnership opportunities, provide free vision screenings, and a special youth football activity for kids hosted by Team Oakley athlete and Chargers’ Pro Bowl safety.”
Chargers Safety and Team Oakley Athlete Derwin James was also in attendance supporting South Park Recreation Youth. The event provided free food, giveaways, along with free eye exams for the community. South Park is located at 345 East 51st Street.
