Five people were arrested in Los Angeles, Alhambra, San Pedro, Long Beach and Rosemead today, in connection to a drug trafficking ring that stretched from Mexico, through southern California to Canada.
Cristian Raul Gastelum-Sanchez, Henry “Randy” Liu and Denny Vuong, were arrested in Los Angeles, after authorities say they trafficked hundreds of pounds of cocaine and methamphetamine.
30 People were indicted in connection to the case. So far, three others have been arrested in Seattle along with seven in Vancouver.
Suspects face ten years to life in prison if convicted. According To KTLA 5:
“Prosecutors The defendants allegedly used cell phones equipped with military-grade encryption to hide their communications. Federal prosecutors said those phone are primarily manufactured by Canadian companies that remove most of their functionality — leaving only an encrypted email system.
Other times, prosecutors said, the drugs were then brought into Canada. Some defendants are accused of transporting them from Southern California to Australia.
