Beverly Hills, CA–Dr. Simone Gold was sentenced this week for illegally entering and remaining in the US Capitol during the January 6 insurrection. She is also ordered to serve 12 months of supervised release. Gold is founder of the group America’s Frontline Doctors, and author of “I do Not Consent: My Fight Against Medical Cancel Culture,” (2020).
Gold recieved 60 days in prison and fined $9,500.
She has also been blocked from social media platforms like Facebook, for spreading anti-vax misinformation relating to Covid-19, information that was also re-shared by then president Donald Trump.
According to CNN, many of the defendants charged in the Capitol 6 riots are currently being held in the DC jail, while they await trial. Many have complained about lack of access to jail facilities because they refuse to be vaccinated, and some judges have hesitated to have defendants who aren’t vaccinated in their courtrooms (CNN).
A congressional panel also known as the Jan. 6 committee are currently holding public hearings regarding the Jan. 6 Capitol riots.
A video investigation published by the New York Times Friday, detail how the far-right wing group the Proud Boys, worked in a coordinated fashion to identify entry points to the capitol, as well rallying an already upset crowd. Over 40 members of the Proud Boys have been indicted in connection to the insurrection, including several leaders of the group.
