West Hollywood, CA–Local #MeToo organizers gathered at the West Hollywood City Council meeting Tuesday, calling for the resignation of WeHo Mayor John Duran and the arrest of Ed Buck.

Duran has been the center of controversy after it was revealed that not only was he a longtime lawyer of Buck; the city also paid a $500,000 settlement to Duran’s former Deputy Council in a sexual harassment case.

Protestors have been calling for the arrest of Buck after two, gay, Black-men were found deceased in his West Hollywood apartment. So far, Buck has avoided criminal charges, although drug paraphernalia was also noted at the time bodies were recovered from his home.

Buck has only been described in media as a wealthy democratic donor and has photos on his Facebook with people from Hilary Clinton, to former California Governor Jerry Brown.

Most recently, Duran was accused by another council member of being on the popular gay, dating app Grindr, during public meetings. Various members from the LGBTQ community who are familiar with Duran are also accusing him of sexual harassment, including various members of the Gay Men’s Chorus.

Simply put, West Hollywood is in the midst of multiple gay scandals, which are seemingly interconnected, that should be followed closely.

According to the Los Angeles Times, on Tuesday, City Council members Lindsey Horvath, Lauren Meister and John D’Amico posted similar statements to their individual Facebook pages calling for Duran to resign.
