Pause: Did EA Sports Censor Big Sean’s Colin Kaepernick Verse On Madden 19?

[dropcap]E[/dropcap]A Sports came under fire today after it was revealed that the song Big Bank by rappers Nicki Minaj, YG, Big Sean & 2 Chainz was used for the games’ soundtrack, but a particular verse was skipped over.

“It’s disappointing and appalling @NFL & @EA took @Kaepernick7’s name out of my verse on Big Bank for Madden 19, like it was a curse word,” Sean tweeted on Thursday (August 2). “When he’s not a curse, he’s a gift! Nobody from my team approved any of this,” Big Sean tweeted earlier.

“Feed me to the wolves, now I lead the pack and shit/ You boys all cap, I’m more Colin Kaepernick,” Big Seans rhymes originally on the track.

EA Sports released a statement earlier today in response to tweets and videos posted by Big Sean and YG–who said no one in their camp authorized the changes.

“We made an unfortunate mistake with our Madden NFL Soundtrack. Members of our team understood the fact that while we don’t have rights to include Colin Kaepernick in the game, this doesn’t affect soundtracks.”

The statement comes after rapper YG made a video saying that he expects an apology from EA sports.
