Sacramento, CA–On Sunday there was a rally held for Stephon Clark, the lastest victim of police killing unarmed Black men in America. The rally was organized by former NBA player Matt Barnes who announced his retirment from the NBA December 2017.
Barnes is a former player for the Sacramento Kings and a native of the Sacramento area. At the rally which was attended by Clark’s family and children, Barnes relayed that the issue “is more than just about color, but right and wrong.”
“Barnes announced that he is starting a college scholarship fund to provide money for education to boys who have lost their fathers. “I’m in the process of starting a Clark boys college scholarship fund to make sure these boys go to college,” Barnes said (ABC13).”
