LOS ANGELES – Today, Los Angeles City Council President Emeritus, Herb J. Wesson Jr. announced that Angelenos in the 10th Council District in need of masks can log onto herbwesson.com/masks and sign up to receive a free cloth mask.

Wesson’s efforts come in the wake of Mayor Eric Garcetti’s order that all shoppers and essential staff wear facial coverings while out in the public which is scheduled to go into effect Friday, April 10 at midnight.

The 10th Council District includes the Los Angeles neighborhoods and communities of Koreatown, West Adams, Baldwin Hills, Mid-City, Little Bangladesh, Country Club Park, Leimert Park, Lafayette Square, Harvard Heights, Gramercy Place, Crenshaw District, St. Elmo Village, Jefferson Park, and Wellington Square.

“Providing masks for our neighbors will help stop the spread of COVID-19,” Wesson.  “We have a responsibility to care for and protect our neighbors and that’s even more true now. We also have to provide whatever assistance we can during this crisis recognizing that everyone can’t afford masks or doesn’t have access to them.”

Wesson’s office has a limited quantity of cloth masks available and will distribute them first come, first served through his website at herbwesson.com/masks.
