South Central, Los Angeles–A man who was found deceased in an older-model blue Chevrolet El Camino has been identified by authorities as 48-year-old Toriano Green.

Police were dispatched to 66th and Western Avenue in South Central around 10:00 a.m Saturday morning after receiving a call about a man deceased inside a vehicle.

The Los Angeles Fire Hazardous Division responded to the call and upon arrival, a man was pronounced dead at the scene. The Coroner was the next to arrive but left without the body after speaking shortly with police and LAFD.

“I was walking by last night and that car was there with the lights on,” a witness at the scene detailed. And I woke up this morning and they are dead.”

Authorities at the scene say they believe the man died from an overdose. Police say they suspect Green may have overdosed on fentanyl which is why they were responding in hazardous gear. However, test results for fentanyl came back negative.

Green was parked next to a church when he died.

The man who found Green and alerted police works at the church Green was parked nearby. He says that cameras catch Green’s car pull up and park on the street around 10:00 p.m.

“The brother just expired. Whatever drug he was using, he didn’t make it through. When I came in at 6:00 a.m this morning, he was there in the same position. We couldn’t see what he was doing in the car, but he didn’t leave.”

Green’s wife, Ginneh Wilson, says their family is extremely shocked by the news.

“He’s a loving father who overcame a horrible childhood and loved his kids. We are still in shock,” Wilson expressed.

The couple has two children together, Jordyn and Tyler. She says that in the weeks leading up to his death, Green showed no signs that something was troubling him.

“He was fine. No signs of anything wrong.”
