Man Arrested in Connection To Shooting That Left Officer In Critical Condition

Alhambra, CA–An off duty Los Angeles Sheriff’s Deputy was shot in the head while dining at a Jack in the Box in Alhambra Friday night. 50-year-old Joe Solano is currently on life support.

According to reports, an unknown gunman shot Solano inside Jack in The Box who was in plain clothes around 6:00 p.m. The suspect then fled the scene. The motive of the attack has yet to be revealed.

The shooting occurred on the 2500 block of West Valley Boulevard while other customers were inside the restaurant. The officer was reported to be in grave condition and taken to USC Medical Center where he is fighting for his life.

An $100,000 reward has been announced in the case. Police have released these images in relation to the shooting.

Yesterday an Utah man was arrested in connection to the shooting.

“The suspect, identified as Rhett Nelson of St. George, Utah, is also suspected in the fatal shooting of another man in central Los Angeles Monday evening, according to police,” ABC 7.
