LOS ANGELES SKID ROW INTERVIEW / GUY SHOWS INSIDE HIS TENT

Downtown, Los Angeles–A youtube channel that I have been subscribed for over a year now, recently uploaded a video interviewing a homeless person living on Skid row in Los Angeles. For those who are not aware, skid row has been majority Black since the 1980’s. Despite being only 8% of the population, Black people represent 34% of the homeless rates in Los Angeles.

Thanks to a lawsuit against the City of Los Angeles over the homeless crisis, a Judge is now demanding the city offer shelter to people on skid row by October.

The Los Angeles Homeless Servicess Department study released in 2019 says that institutional racism is aiding in the disproportionate rates of Black people on the streets of Los Angeles. No follow up was released on a plan to address these issues, despite recommendations and the report being released two years ago.
