[dropcap]C[/dropcap]olin Kaepernick has filed a grievance against NFL owners, who he says have conspired to keep him out of the league over his controversial national anthem protest.
The claim drafted by a Los Angeles law firm states that with “calculated coordination” from the Trump administration and the Executive Branch of the United States government, “NFL teams exhibited unusual and bizarre behavior regarding Mr. Kaepernick’s prospective employment.”
Outlined in the complaint are details of how the NFL is an organization with 70% African-American players and not one African American owner. These disproportionate ownership statistics work to substantiate the claims that Kaepernick is being made an example to intimidate other minority players–those who may want to use their first amendment rights to display silent protest during games.
The actions described in the claim are in violation of the anti-collusion provisions, which are a part of the NFL’s Collective Bargaining Agreements (CBA). Kaepernick’s claim can be found below.
