[dropcap]E[/dropcap]ureka, CA–The Journey2Justice riders from the National Korean Service & Education Consortium (NAKASEC) are riding from Seattle, Washington to San Diego, California in an effort to highlight immigrant rights and advocate citizenship for all.

Their journey began Aug. 1 and will continue until Sept. 5, covering 1,7000 miles. The riders also stop in various counties throughout their journey to connect with immigrant communities.

Last night, a group of about 15 arrived in Eureka and were hosted by the First Congressional Church and Centro Del Pueblo. 11 were bike riders but their group also included NAKSEC’s Communications Manager and film-maker Miguel Angel Duran, who is documenting their journey for his project, “Immigrant Voices of America.”

After sharing testimonials, singing songs, eating a meal provided and taking showers at the local Planet Fitness, they caught up on some sleep inside the church and prepared for the press conference the next day and the continuing of their journey.

At the Madaket Plaza in Eureka this morning the Journey2Justice riders shared insight on the reasons they have chosen to participate in the journey. Some were personally affected and came from immigrant households. Others wanted to use their privilege to advocate for those they love.

The group sang songs and were joined by Centro Del Pueblo, English Express, members of the Tulawat tribe and the First Congressional Church, who shared words of encouragement to the riders. The event was an important act of solidarity for Centro Del Pueblo, who have been working diligently for over two years to bring Measure K to the ballot–to ensure Humboldt will be a sanctuary county.

Their next stop is Sacramento and they plan to be there Aug. 22 where they will hold another press conference. The justice riders are also in need of donations. A $25 donation provides the team with water for the day and anything higher can purchase food that will provide the riders with nutrition on their journey as well as shelter.
