Dallas, Texas–The trial of Amber Guyger, former Dallas Police officer who shot and killed 26-year-old Botham Jean in his apartment last year, has just taken a surprise turn. One of the witnesses, Joshua Brown, was found shot and killed last night. Earlier this week, Brown testified in court, stating he lived across the hall from Jean and he would hear him singing gospel songs and Drake.

Brown also mentioned him and Jean had received a noise complaint earlier in the day, which he found to be strange.

“Police say they responded to the shooting at the Atera apartments in the 4600 block of Cedar Springs Road at around 10:40 p.m.When they arrived, they found the victim lying in the parking lot of the complex with multiple gunshot wounds. He was taken to the hospital but later died from his injuries. Brown’s identity was not immediately released by police or the medical examiner but was confirmed by civil attorney Lee Merritt, who said he was told by Brown’s mother,” (CBS Local).

Guyger, a five year veteran of DPD was sentenced to 10 years in prison. The sentence prompted outrage over what many perceived as a light sentence.

In addition to the light sentence, those who watched the trial online or from their television, were appalled when the Judge who sentenced Guyger, presented her with her personal bible and hugged her. The judge is now under fire and a formal complaint has been filed against her.

Moments prior, Jean’s younger brother Brandt, took the stand and relayed he did not even want Guyger to go to prison. He then asked the Judge if he could hug Guyger, which the Judge agreed to.

The whole trial is mind-boggling for various reasons and people are having a hard time grasping the reality and outcome of this case.

Perhaps Jean’s brother and family are just on a spiritual plateau the masses have yet to reach.

However, when you factor in how Brown was just murdered, it makes you wonder if any of the Black people showing love and moral support to this white woman who shot a man in his own home, know something the public does not.

Were they receiving death threats as well? Or does white woman tears just invoke this type of response and sympathy, even after such a heinous crime?

Rest in Power to Joshua Brown and prayers for his family. Hopefully there is some information released soon, on who exactly did this to him and why.

Around 20 min mark for Brown’s testimony
