Cardi-B Apologizes For Offensive Skit About Dr. King
Last week, Nicki Minaj decided to compare herself to Harriet Tubman after her album came in at #2 on the Billboard Top 100.
This week, TMZ leaked an offensive skit featuring Cardi-B as Coretta Scott King.
The material was for comedian RIP Michales show, “Off The Rip” and is entitled, “The Real Housewives of The Civil Rights Movement.” Michaels defended Cardi-B against the backlash she received online, saying that his team of writers came up with the material. The backlash prompted an apology from Cardi-B to the King family.
The total lack of appreciation of our history and respect for our leaders is appalling. There is a very fine line between comedy and total blasphemy of those who paved the way for us today. My mouth dropped with the ghetto portrayals of women who were the backbone of the civil rights movement. There is no way they can they be compared in anyway, to negative portrayals of Black women. It is necessary that we fight back against any demeaning messages of our leaders and their contributions to the course of history.
