Hawthorne, CA–Charmaine “Ronna” Stafford is an esthetician based in Hawthorne, CA. She owns and operates Edens Candy inside the “Be Brave Beauty Supply” located at 13052 Hawthorne Blvd. Strafford originally started in 2017, while a student an esthetician student at Aveda. She offers Brazilian waxing, as well as full body waxing. She also specilaizes in facials which gradually turned into learning how to do vagacials. This is similar to a regular facial that is applied to the intimate areas for men & women who might have issues with ingrown hairs, discoloration, or need help putting moisture back into the skin.

What made you want to get into the Esthetician + waxing business?

“I actually wanted to & will create a skincare line. I chose Aveda for my school because most of their products are plant derived & I’ve always experimented with scents and essential oils, just trying to find a way to make my own things that didn’t cause harm to the skin. I made my own shampoos, body butters, lotions, perfumes you name it! So becoming an esthetician was a no brainer for me. I just wanted to have a credible license to back me up in my career.”

These types of services are extremely popular in the community, why do you think that is?

“Well, our skin is the first thing that people see when you meet. I know how important it is for us to look our best when presenting ourselves & I feel that when you come out from getting a facial or a wax, it just boosts your confidence so high! I just love the reactions my clients make when they are serviced from me.”

What do you love most about the business?

“The esthetician field is always evolving. There’s always a solution to whatever problems we might have with our skin & I love that I’m able to share it with my clients.”

What is unique about your products/business?

“I have a technique that reduces the pain of getting a Brazilian wax. I’d share it but it’s kinda a secret & it’s just one of those things you have to try it to see! I’m super confident in my technique & have been doing this since 2017. I would also like to add that I’m really fascinated with the anatomy of our bodies. I’ve been using yoni steams and yoni eggs since 2013. I’ve noticed a tremendous amount of improvement in my overall vaginal health.

Yoni steams have helped me with menstrual cramping, reduced the number of days of my cycle, restored my pH, helped with odor, kept my walls tight! (Hahahaha I know that’s extreme but I’m so serious about it). It also helped me to brave my feminine nature more. It’s just one of those products that just overall makes you feel good after you use it. Same applies for the yoni eggs! It not only helps with kegels but helps spiritually as well and I plan to sell them before the end of this year so be on the lookout for that. “

How can people book you for services?

“I require a deposit to secure spots. People can book me for services at www.Edenscandy.as.me .”

What inspired you to start this business?

“Just being able to share the joy I have with finding routines & products for self care. As women & men we feel our best when we’re taking care of ourselves, so being able to assist in that self care journey for my clients is just amazing!”

What would you like the reader to know most about you?

“I come from a big family. I have 10 siblings, all of us were born & raised in Los Angeles. I used most of them as my testers when I create my products. I have a 6yr old baby boy. He might feel a way about me calling him a baby when he gets older & reads this but I’m a passionate mother and always looking for ways to expand my knowledge in the esthetician field.

On my down time, I like reading and going record shop hopping. I own a turntable & find comfort in listening to records. I also really love a good Hip-Hop instrumental. I find myself adding hip hop instrumentals to most videos of my work. So, if you’re a producer that doesn’t mind their beat being incorporated with my videos, let’s collab!

How do you retain clients in a business that is easily accessible almost everywhere?

“Confidence it’s very simple. If you are coming to your client shy & not really talking to them about the knowledge you have then you can’t expect for them to continue to support you. During my services I encourage my clients whether new or returning to always ask questions! I’m here to answer any question, to recommend products, & to send you home with a new skin care routine or update the one they currently have.”

What has the pandemic been like as a business owner in this field?

“I’m a firm believer in the law of attraction, I try to keep a positive mindset on maintaining my business. Also I’ve noticed since the pandemic there are more protocols in keeping everything clean. It’s actually refreshing because as estheticians we’ve already been taught to wear gloves, to wash our hands after touching surfaces & to wear masks so it’s cool to see everyone catch up with keeping our world safe & clean.”

What are some of your favorite services you offer?

“Idk if you can tell by now but Brazilian waxing and vagacials! I love using these really fun jelly masks in my services. I have different ones varying with the condition of my clients skin. It’s just one of the things included with the service. We might do extractions, it just all depends on what my client needs at the time of service. But I enjoy doing it.
