8-Year-Old Wounded In Watts; Man Shot In Head in Gardena

Watts, CA—An eight-year-old was shot and wounded today after gun fire erupted in Watts. An assault rifle was recovered from the scene.

The shooting occurred around 7:40 p.m near 109th and Wilmington Ave. Police were dispatched to the area and the boy was transported to a nearby hospital.

His condition was not immediately available.

Gardena, CA—A man was shot today around 4:00 p.m on El Segundo and Vaness in the city of Gardena, inside of a parking lot with several businesses.

The victim, whose identity was not immediately available, sustained a gun shot wound to the head after a gun-man opened fire in broad daylight.

Police were dispatched to the scene and the Los Angeles Fire Department staged half a mile up the street, while police secured the scene and the victim continued to bleed out.

One of the suspects in the shooting may have dreads and was seen tossing a weapon over a wall, according to witnesses at the scene.

The suspects entered the shopping plaza from an alley off Vaness and appear to have shot the victim in the back of the head.

Several cars were seen leaving the scene after the shooting occurred.

The victim was pronounced dead by police, as a crowd of the victims family members began to crowd the scene.

  1. Thank you for covering stories like these. I live in Gardena and know who this kid is. Apparently there has been local gang beef with another gang that is resulting in the loss of too many young men. As a result, I don’t allow my kids to hang outside. It’s sad and must stop. May God bless us all.
