[dropcap]T[/dropcap]wo Miami Cheesecake Factory employee’s were fired this week according to TIME, after making inappropriate remarks about a customer’s “Make America Great Again” hat–which are symbols of support for President Donald Trump.

Many people, especially in minority communities, view the hat as a symbol of disdain for people of color and the slogan as dog whistle politics for those in racist white-America.

Interestingly enough however, the customer wearing the MAGA hat in this case was a Black-man; turning what should have been a nice mother’s day outing into a very hostile environment.

Employee’s created such a scene intimidating and mocking the young Black-man, that others dining nearby were left uncomfortable. One girl was seen crying and an elderly woman had to take medications to deal with rising tensions inside the restaurant.

According to The Daily Wire, a woman who worked at the restaurant walked up to him and started pointing at his hat, signaling for the other employees to come over.

“Her finger was literally on top of his head, we were all looking at her like ‘what is happening?'” one witness told The Daily Wire. “She was pointing at him, calling her other coworkers, telling them to look at this guy wearing a Make America Great Again hat.”

At that point, approximately a dozen or so employees approached the table and began making comments about the hat, with some saying they wanted to punch Joseph in the face.”

In a statement to The Daily Wire, Alethea Rowe, Senior Director of Public Relations at The Cheesecake Factory, wrote:

“No guest should ever feel unwelcomed in one of our restaurants and we are taking this matter very seriously. Upon learning of this incident, we immediately apologized to the guests in person. We are conducting an investigation and will take the appropriate corrective action.”

Personally, I would never wear a MAGA hat. However, as someone who has worked in customer service for many years, it is so unacceptable to have employees of a business not have the common decency to leave their personal feelings over politics, out of their treatment of customers.

They deserved to be fired, period.
