[dropcap]J[/dropcap]anelle Monáe Robinson is an American singer, songwriter, rapper, record producer, actress, and model. She is known for her non-conformist approach to style and music especially under male gazes. She has played movie roles in acclaimed films such as Hidden Figures and Moonlight.

She is giving us all kind of Black girl magic and inpo vibes from her new album, ‘Dirty Computer’ which drops (April 27) in two days.

“As a young Black woman, my very existence felt less than the people in positions of power. There were days I left the studio recording because I was so upset. But I knew I needed to articulate and I tried my best to channel that energy.”

Janelle Monáe’s ‘Dirty Computer’ album includes the self-produced single “Django Jane” and she sits down with Genius and discusses her lyrics in the song.

The song finds Monáe spitting bars about her working-class childhood, dropping references to Shonda Rhimes shows and reflecting on Moonlight’s 2017 Oscar win. Since its release, the song has earned over three million Spotify streams.
